How It Works

Our Board & Train gives your dog an immersive head start. Your dog stays with us while our trainers do the bulk of the teaching, and then have you ready to start with group class to have fun and train along with others.

Board & Train with a trainer

Your dog trains with our team during the day and goes home each night with our owner, Teddy Wall. Over that time, our trainers build a strong foundation by teaching your dog the fundamentals, with real-world distractions built in.

Go-home lesson

At the end of the last day, you'll get hands-on instruction from your trainer in a go-home lesson. We walk you through everything your dog learned during the week and teach you how to recreate the same communication your dog learned with our trainers.

Ongoing support and group classes

Every Board & Train program includes group classes, with the option to schedule virtual lessons if needed. You'll be able to join our group classes when it's convenient for you, so you and your dog can keep building new skills together.

Our approach

Board & Train With Us

With our Board & Train, most of the teaching happens here with our team. While your dog is with us, our trainers can dedicate that time to building the fundamentals, with real-world distractions built in throughout, including new people, other dogs, sounds, and changing environments. At night, your dog goes home with Teddy, so the same structure carries through into real home life, not just a kennel.

Our trainers teach your dog through touch, movement, and body language, the way dogs naturally communicate. We don't wait for a dog to make a mistake and then correct it. Instead, we make the answer clear from the very start, going out of our way to help your dog get it right the first time. If it doesn't click right away, we adjust how we communicate with that individual dog until it understands what we're asking.

Above all, we focus on the fundamentals. Everything we do starts with making your dog aware of us, because we can't solve a problem if the dog isn't aware of us in the first place. That's why we don't treat behavior problems as separate projects. Jumping, leash pulling, and other issues are resolved through the same fundamentals we begin teaching on day one.

Your dog's time with us is dedicated to learning, and your part begins with the go-home lesson at the end of the last day. Then you move right into group class to practice those skills. Don't worry: if you are still struggling, just let our trainer know what you'd like to work on, and they can focus on you and your dog during class and help you with it.

Is it the right fit?

Who It's For

Our Board & Train is ideal if you want an immersive jumpstart, if your schedule makes daily drop-offs and pickups difficult, or if you're heading out of town and want your dog's time away to be productive. It works for young dogs starting fresh and older dogs who picked up habits along the way. Because your dog comes home already understanding the fundamentals, your transition into group class is really easy.

It's also important to know what this program isn't. Board & Train is not a drop-off-and-done service for owners who want a trained dog without being involved afterward. Every dog training program requires owner input to maintain and grow what the dog has learned, and ours is no exception. Our trainers lay the foundation, but your consistency is what keeps it strong and helps it grow.

The one exception is dogs with an extensive bite history. For those dogs, we start with private lessons only, so you and your trainer can work together one-on-one from the very beginning.
