How It Works

Our Private Lessons Program is built entirely around your dog and the problem you told us about. It's built in three steps, each one designed to move your dog forward and put you in the driver's seat right alongside it.

Four private lessons with your trainer

You and your dog work one-on-one with your trainer over four private lessons. Each lesson focuses on the problem you came in for, whether that's leash reactivity, fear, door dashing, or a rescue dog with an unknown history, with real-world distractions built in as your dog progresses.

Virtual support between lessons

After each lesson, your trainer gives you a few things to work on in your everyday life, then checks your progress and moves you forward from there. Between lessons, you'll have virtual support whenever questions come up, so you're never on your own.

Membership and group classes

When your lessons are done, you get two months of membership, including four group classes and virtual support. Group class is where your dog learns to listen to other dogs and people, so the training holds up in real life, not just at home. After that, you can keep your membership going for $69 a month and cancel anytime.

Our approach

Private Lessons With Us

Teddy Wall · Owner & head trainer

With our Private Lessons Program, you're in the driver's seat from the very first session. Your trainer works right beside you, teaching you to give clear direction through your timing, your posture, and your movement, so your dog never has to guess what you're asking.

You'll begin to see how different inputs from you lead to different results from your dog, and that a dog who seems “stubborn” or “knows better” often simply has no idea what's being asked of it.

Our trainers teach through touch, movement, and body language, the way dogs naturally communicate. We don't wait for a dog to make a mistake and then correct it. Instead, we make the answer clear from the very start, going out of our way to help your dog get it right the first time. If it doesn't click right away, we adjust how we communicate with that individual dog until it understands what we're asking.

Above all, we focus on the fundamentals. Everything we do starts with making your dog aware of you, because we can't solve a problem if the dog isn't aware of us in the first place. That's why we don't treat behavior problems as separate projects. Reactivity, jumping, leash pulling, and other issues are resolved through the same fundamentals we begin teaching in your first lesson.

Unlike our Foundation Program and Board & Train, there's no time with our trainers before you take the lead. Every lesson is hands-on for you and your dog together, from the very beginning. Our philosophy is simple: train as you live. Success comes from using the fundamentals we teach throughout your normal, everyday life.

Who It's For

Our Private Lessons Program is ideal if your dog has a specific or urgent problem, like leash reactivity, fear or anxiety, or door dashing, or if you want to learn hands-on at your own pace. It's a great fit for rescue dogs with unknown histories that need a careful start, and for owners who want to be the one holding the leash from day one.

It's also important to know what this program is. Private lessons are about teaching you. Every dog training program requires owner input to maintain and grow what the dog has learned, and ours is no exception. If your dog has several issues or you'd like our trainers to do the heavy lifting first, our Foundation Program or Board & Train may be a better fit.

For dogs with an extensive bite history, this is always where we start. Private lessons let you and your trainer work together one-on-one from the very beginning.
